About us

Open Heaven Church is part of Assemblies of God, the largest Pentecostal denomination in the UK. Our Sunday congregation is made up of all different ages and backgrounds and everyone is welcome.
What does “pentecostal” mean? We are a Christian church who believe in a direct personal experience of God through the baptism in the Holy Spirit. You may well see the gifts of the Holy Spirit in operation in our church (healing, tongues, prophecy etc). For more about what we believe you can read our page of beliefs.

We seek to be a church that welcomes everyone and presents Jesus in a relevant and vibrant way. We seek to reach out to our community and draw people to Christ with an exciting programme of activities. We believe that the church is the place where people can discover who God is, develop great friendships and relationships and determine their purpose to make a difference in the world.

We believe in a God of miracles and have seen Him do many great things. Here are just a few stories of real people and real miracles. We have many more we’d love to tell you about.

The Bible says that - God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! (Ephesians 3:20)

What do you dream for? Can you imagine what your life could be? Then come to our awesome God and see how He can change your story

I was deaf in one ear, now I can hear

Healed from sciatica

My name is Charlie. I was born deaf in one ear because of a hole in my ear drum. I had loads of operations on it but nothing helped. At a church youth camp a few years ago I asked a woman to pray for me. Instantly I was healed and able to hear. The doctor said he couldn’t explain what happened but my hearing was perfect. It was a miracle!

My dad’s name is John. He lives in Huddersfield. He had bad sciatica and the hospital said he would need an operation to release the trapped nerve. He had been stuck in bed for a month. We went and prayed for him. Within half an hour he was running around and has never had a problem since.

I was a prisoner in my own home

Changed forever

My name is Debbie. I had agoraphobia for years. I was so afraid I had not left the house on my own for years. On the 17th June 2012 I was prayed for at church and God healed me. Now I can leave the house and I am enjoying walking my dog.

My name is Louise. I got into a group of people who took drugs and my life went down hill. I would do anything to get money for drugs. People at church helped me God got hold of my life and set me free. I no longer have a problem and I am living for Jesus.
